My friend found a 1973 classic Ford Bronco for sale that looks to be in fairly good condition. He's concerned that there might be some rust he's not seeing. I told him to look closely and the windsheild frame and hardtop gutters for rust. Any other suggestions for where rust might hide?
The drivers side and passenger side floor pans at the seam where they go up to the pedals are common locations. The inner fender area just infront of the firewall on both sides. The rear inner fenders where they meet the floor pans as well as the areas in front and behind the rear fenders. The rocker panels, on the underside as well as the door bottoms. The door bottoms rust when the drains become clogged. The cowl area is hard to see from the engine side, but an assumption of some rust could be made if the seam sealer along the cowl is cracked or missing. If you look up under the dash where the steering column is supported. check that channel all the way accross for rust holes. The door hinge post is another location. These are the locations I have found rust on the california trucks I have owned.

Everywhere! Lol. He should definitely crawl underneath and check everything out. The common places for rust are the floor pans (especially if there is carpet and it's been sitting outside), cowl area under the hood, rocker panels (under the doors), and fender wells. Tell him to take a magnet too so he can test for Bondo.
