Should I upgrade to a 351 Cleveland engine?

I've got a 1969 Bronco with a 289 engine in it and would like to get a bit more power. I'm thinking about upgrading to a 351 Cleveland, that's what my Mustang friends are pushing. Any thoughts from the Bronco folks?

I always say bigger is better...drop a big block 460 in it and growl your way through town.

What do you want more power for? Are you looking for torque or speed? Are you going to hit the trails or stay on paved roads? You're going to run into cooling issues with something as big as a 460.

I'm definitely going to use it on the trails, this isn't a trailer queen. I don't need something that will blow the doors off, I guess I'm just looking for a bit more torque when i'm offroading.

The 351 Cleveland is a great engine; it comes stock with better heads than the 351 Windsor and likely your 289. However, if you're thinking about dropping in a crate, I would suggest a 351W over the Cleveland--there a lot more parts available.

BroncoPro's got it pegged. Also, the Cleveland is a big block, so you'll loose a lot of engine space. The Windsor is the way to go, and there are a lot of stroker kits available for it.
